If ducks could golf, they would have thought these were perfect conditions.  Although the rain was relentless, it did not deter 86 avid supporters and golf enthusiasts from involving themselves in the 2nd annual QD4Y fundraiser, now affectionately known as the Mike Coughlin Memorial Golf Tournament.
Judy O'Brien, Executive Director of Quinte Destinations 4 Youth, said in regards to the weather; "Well, everyone had fun anyways, so that was cool!"  O'Brien stated that another 13 came out for the dinner to show their support for the event.  "We made about six grand," she boasted.  "It was way better than last year for sure."

“........when you wake up tomorrow, realize that it's a good day!  Everyday is a good day and some are just better than others!"

Boyd Sullivan was given the honours of auctioning off the Belleville Bulls Hockey Jersey that was donated for the event.  "It's not about the golf, it's not about the score," he stated while addressing the crowd.  "It's about the day!"  Sullivan stated that he had not known the Coughlin family, at least as well as most participants there did, but was very passionate about the reasons everyone was there.  "Everyone has had their fun and enjoyed the day; but for God's sakes, when you wake up tomorrow, realize that it's a good day!  Everyday is a good day and some are just better than others!"  Sullivan started the bidding on the jersey at $100.00 and it didn't take long for that to climb upwards to $325.00 when Andy Vos became the new proud owner.
The team of Matt and Dan Coughlin, brothers of Mike, Mark Harry (Mike's brother-in-law) and Dave Canning took the overall first place finish, carding a score of -11.  When Dan Coughlin was questioned about manipulating the score card, he retorted; "No, no!  It's just raw talent!"  Coughlin went on to explain; "Like my Dad always said, 'Don't let fear hold you back, son!'"
O'Brien is already starting the plans for next year's event which should easily house a full roster of 144 participants.
